At Marvel Builders, Inc., we’re excited to share the latest progress on our barn remodel project in Gilbertsville. It has been a busy and productive week as we move closer to transforming this space into something truly special. Here’s a closer look at what we accomplished:
Framing Repairs and Upgrades
The structural integrity of a building is paramount, and this week we continued making framing repairs and upgrades to the barn. Addressing these critical elements ensures the longevity and safety of the structure. It’s a meticulous process, but seeing the barn take on new life is incredibly rewarding. With these repairs completed, the structure is now solid and ready for the next stages of construction.
Andersen 400 Series Window Installation
We’ve also been hard at work installing Andersen 400 Series double-hung windows. These high-quality windows not only enhance the barn’s aesthetic appeal but also provide excellent insulation and functionality. The installation process went smoothly, and the new windows bring in an abundance of natural light, brightening up the interior space.
Preparing and Pouring the Concrete Patio
One of the significant milestones this week was prepping and pouring the new concrete patio. Winter concrete work presents unique challenges, especially in terms of maintaining optimal curing conditions. Fortunately, the weather worked in our favor with above-freezing temperatures, so we didn’t need additional insulation for this pour.
We applied a broom finish to the concrete, a practical and attractive choice for outdoor areas, providing both durability and slip resistance. After the pour, we covered the surface to protect it from rain overnight. The plastic tent we used not only shielded the concrete but also created a greenhouse effect, maintaining a warm environment for the curing process. These extra steps ensure a strong and long-lasting result.
Moving Forward: DiamondKote Siding Installation
With the framing repairs complete and the rough electrical work now in place, we’re gearing up for the next exciting phase: DiamondKote siding installation. This high-performance siding is known for its durability and low-maintenance finish, making it an excellent choice for this project. Once installed, it will add a striking and polished look to the barn while protecting it from the elements.
