Up in Gilbertsville, we are continuing progress on the 2nd floor renovation on the barn that we have been working at on an off for the last two years. During demolition, we found bad wiring, bad framing, and bad everything else. The floors have a 2 1/2″ sag in them from front to back- and it was built that way!
The existing joist are bearing on steel I beams that are sound and not moving. The joists are 12″ on center, so we decided to sister the joists up to level plane so we can start our new subfloor from a fresh new level elevation.
During the demo of the floor sheathing to get down to the joists, we found a spot that looks like it saw a fire at some point in its life! You never know what you are going to find at this place!
Stay tuned and follow along with our progress as we turn this home owner’s dream into reality one step at a time!
