This week we continued making progress on our renovation project in Gilbertsville, PA, with most of the work still focused on getting the second floor straightened out and ready to build back.
Since the new layout is changing quite a bit from what was there before, some of the existing plumbing needs to be relocated to work with the new floor plan. That all has to happen before we can close up the floor, so this week included rough plumbing, more floor joist sistering, and new subfloor installation.
Once we had enough of the floor work behind us, we started moving overhead. Just like the floors, the existing ceiling wasn’t exactly straight or level, so we installed new collar ties to create a nice, straight ceiling plane for the new finished space.
Down in Pottstown, PA, we also knocked out a smaller project, replacing an old window with a new Viwinco insert-style replacement window. Sometimes it’s the smaller upgrades that make a big difference. The new window gives the homeowner a cleaner look, better operation, and a quality replacement that should serve them well for decades to come.
That’s the fun part about remodeling — one day we’re rebuilding floors and moving plumbing in an old house, and the next we’re replacing a window.
