Greetings, Marvel Builders community! This week, we are excited to share the details of a fantastic kitchen remodel we completed in Kenilworth, PA. This project was a true testament to our team’s dedication, craftsmanship, and attention to detail. From a complete demolition down to the studs to the installation of beautiful new finishes, we transformed an outdated space into a stunning, modern kitchen.

The Project: A Full Demolition and Remodel

Our journey began with a full demolition of the existing kitchen. We took the space down to the studs, which allowed us to start fresh and ensure that everything was up to modern standards. During the demolition, we discovered that the exterior walls had no insulation! This was a significant find, and we made sure to properly insulate these walls to improve the home’s energy efficiency and comfort.

Expanding the Space: Removing a Wall and Installing a LVL Beam

One of the key elements of this remodel was removing a wall between the kitchen and an adjacent room. By doing so, we were able to create a much larger, more open kitchen space. To ensure the structural integrity of the home, we installed a load-bearing LVL (Laminated Veneer Lumber) beam in place of the wall. This beam provides the necessary support while allowing for a seamless, open-concept design.

Electrical Upgrades

With the walls open, we had the perfect opportunity to upgrade the electrical system. We installed new electrical circuits to accommodate modern appliances and lighting needs. This not only made the kitchen more functional but also brought it up to current safety standards.

Drywall and Finishing Touches

Next, we installed new 1/2″ drywall, finishing it to a level 4 finish. This high-quality finish is smooth and ready for paint, ensuring a flawless final look. Our team then painted the walls to full coverage, creating a fresh, clean canvas for the rest of the kitchen.

Flooring: Blending Old and New

The flooring was another highlight of this project. We wove in new 2 1/4″ oak hardwood to tie into the existing floors. This meticulous process ensured a seamless transition between the old and new sections of the floor. After installation, we refinished the entire floor, bringing out the natural beauty of the oak and creating a stunning foundation for the kitchen.

Cabinetry and Countertops

We installed Dura Supreme semi-custom cabinetry, known for its quality and customizable options. These cabinets provided ample storage and a sleek, modern look. For the countertops, we selected beautiful granite, which offers both durability and elegance. The combination of the cabinetry and countertops created a sophisticated and functional workspace.

Backsplash: A Touch of Character

To complete the kitchen, we installed an aged subway tile backsplash. This choice added a touch of character and timeless style to the space. The backsplash not only protects the walls but also enhances the overall aesthetic of the kitchen.

A Thrilled Customer

Our team did an exceptional job from start to finish, and the results speak for themselves. The customer is thrilled with their new kitchen, and we couldn’t be prouder of the work we accomplished. It’s always rewarding to see our clients’ visions come to life and to know that we’ve made a significant improvement to their home.

Final Thoughts

This Kenilworth kitchen remodel was a comprehensive project that involved careful planning, skilled craftsmanship, and a commitment to quality. From the initial demolition to the final touches, our team worked tirelessly to create a beautiful, functional space that the homeowners will enjoy for years to come.
