Introduction
Some projects tell their story right away. Others come back years later with a new chapter. This Douglassville addition and bathroom remodel reminded us of the importance of standing behind our work, long after the warranty expires.
When the Problem Returned
Several years after completing the remodel, the homeowner noticed water damage. At first, it seemed like a roof leak. But when the issue resurfaced and we opened it again, the true culprit was revealed: a plumbing mistake from the remodel years before.
Beyond the Fine Print
By the time this came to light, the project was long past our warranty. The homeowner’s insurance was already stepping in to cover the repairs. Technically, our responsibility had ended. But accountability doesn’t stop when the paperwork does.
Making It Right
We chose to cover the homeowner’s deductible as a way of saying, “We’re still standing behind this project.” It wasn’t about taking blame—it was about showing integrity, and making sure the client knew their trust was well placed.
A Lasting Commitment
This experience was a reminder: quality craftsmanship is essential, but so is accountability. The structures we build may last decades, but the relationships we build with clients last just as long.
